
| Are You Eligible For New Jersey Medicaid? Eligibility for Medicaid in NJ

To be eligible for New Jersey Medicaid, a person must meet these general requirements:
* Resident of New Jersey
* U.S. Citizen or qualified alien
* Meet specific standards for financial income
and resources
Within New Jersey Medicaid are also a number of special programs
designed to meet the specific medical needs of certain groups of people who
would not otherwise qualify for the program.
These include:

Medically Needy programs for the aged, blind or permanently
disabled. These programs provide for a
nursing home level of care.

Persons qualified for home based care programs under New Jersey global
options or other NJ Medicaid waiver programs.
Since 1996, the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services have administered
all services and programs for senior beneficiaries. The Division of Disability
Services has administered the Home and Community-Based Services Waiver programs
since July 1, 2001.
